Šta je to što neke predele izdvaja od drugih? Kakva treba da bude priroda da bi nas zadivila? Možda netaknuta? Mlinska Rijeka jedna od takvih prirodnih lepotica, idealno mesto za odmor, kako za kampere, tako i za vikendaše i rekreativce.
Bogata vegetacija, potok sa svojim krivudavim i predivnim tokom, olistala stabla sa svih strana seoskog puta, kao i guste svetlozelene trave ovde ne manjka.
Nedaleko od Banjaluke(glavnog grada Republike Srpske), nekih 40-tak minuta vožnje autom, na putu ka Prnjavoru (preko Čelinca), posle sela Jošavka nalazi se Mlinska Rijeka. Ljubitelji putovanja vozom, takođe mogu stići do ovog turističkog mesta.
Vikendaši koji jedva čekaju da pobegnu iz grada i sumornog asfalta, imaju ovde razne mogućnosti za rekreaciju: od terena za košarku, mali fudbal, odbojku na travi, do staze za šetnju ili trčanje. Tu je i šah sa velikim figurama, zatim nekih 10 minuta peške od ove centralne poljane je i bazen za kupanje. Program za decu, takođe.
Iako su postavljene drvene kućice za dnevnu varijantu i zaštitu od kiše sasvim dovoljne, ni kamperi ovde nisu zaboravljeni. Cena dnevnog boravka sa nadstrešnicom je 5KM (2.50 eura), a dok je šator na 1 dan 10 KM (5 eura). Važna informacija je da i mesta za roštiljanje ima na pretek.
Ovo mesto je poznato i po istoriji. Pa koga zanimaju detalji ljutih borbi Drugog svetskog rata imaće šta novo da čuje. Mladen Stojanović (čije ime krasi danas prelepi banjalučki park) je u Drugom svetskom ratu ubijen baš na Mlinskoj rijeci, gde mu je podignut i spomenik.
Zanimljive činjenice su i da je ovo jedno od retkih ruralnih naselja koje se može pohvaliti sa starosnom dobi svog stanovništva. Od onih koji ne napuštaju svoj rodni kraj i svaki dan putuju na posao, u školu ili fakultet u, ne toliko daleku, Banjaluku, do onih koji su se po završenim studijama iz Beograda vratili baš u ove predele. Mlađa populacija moglo bi se reći.
